You’ll explore a 1.8-mile trail that leads you through the jungle canopy via 15 hanging bridges, ranging from 15 to 330 feet in length. Designed for both safety and accessibility, the bridges are constructed from aluminum, galvanized steel, and concrete to ensure a secure journey. Accompanied by a knowledgeable naturalist guide, you’ll gain fascinating insights into the region’s ecology, flora, and fauna—bringing the vibrant rainforest to life with every step. Along the way, you'll be treated to spectacular views of the iconic Arenal Volcano, making this walk a breathtaking mix of natural beauty and soft adventure. After your trek, unwind in the soothing waters of natural hot springs, surrounded by lush tropical gardens. ARENAL VOLCANO
Today, you’ll journey to the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge—an ideal excursion for nature lovers eager to witness Costa Rica’s incredible biodiversity up close. This vast wetland ecosystem, centered around the Río Frío, is one of the country’s most biologically rich regions and a sanctuary for countless species of birds, mammals, and reptiles. Your day begins with a scenic two-hour drive through the lush Northern Plains, as a comfortable bus transports you from your hotel to the charming village of Los Chiles, just 4 km from the Nicaraguan border. From there, you'll embark on a peaceful boat safari along the Río Frío, gliding through serene waters as your guide helps you spot the abundant wildlife that thrives in this protected area. During the dry season, Caño Negro becomes a birdwatcher’s paradise. Look out for species such as the Anhinga, Roseate Spoonbill, Wood Stork, and the rare Jabiru—the largest bird in Central America. Along the riverbanks, you may also encounter Howler, Spider, and White-faced Monkeys, Three-Toed Sloths, and a variety of reptiles including caimans, turtles, and the aptly named Jesus Christ lizard. As the afternoon winds down, you’ll return to the Arenal Volcano area, where you'll spend the night reflecting on the day’s remarkable wildlife encounters. (B, L) - Day 04
